DAN RANK RULES & CONDITIONS
AUTHORIZED CKA BRANCH CHIEF EXAMINERS:
RANK SUSPENSION
CKA Branch Chief instructors are fully AUTHORIZED to SUSPEND Sho-dan certification status based on CKA established standards AND/OR for the FOLLOWING reasons:

DAN RE-CERTIFICATION RULES
- CKA Branch Chief instructors are FULLY AUTHORIZED by CKA HEADQUARTERS to AWARD their students up to the rank of SHO-DAN based on CKA minimum requirements.
RANK SUSPENSION
CKA Branch Chief instructors are fully AUTHORIZED to SUSPEND Sho-dan certification status based on CKA established standards AND/OR for the FOLLOWING reasons:
- Students that abandon their training or are absent for 9 months or more.
- Students that transfer to a NON-CKA certified DOJO, WILL immediately forfeit CKA recognition.
- Students that train with a NON-CKA sensei OR at another dojos without direct consent from their CKA branch chief instructor, WILL immediately forfeit CKA recognition.
- Students that poach or guide other CKA members to abandon their sensei in order to train with NON-CKA Facilities, WILL immediately forfeit CKA recognition.
- Students who teach current CKA students for personal or financial gain without direct authorization from their CKA Branch Chief instructor, WILL immediately forfeit CKA recognition.
- If the Student violates the basic code of conduct and principles of BUDO as recognized by the international Karate community and by doing so creates a negative atmosphere OR displays disrespect towards others, WILL immediately forfeit CKA recognition.
- If a Student violates the LAW. WILL immediately forfeit CKA recognition.
SHO-DAN REQUIREMENTS
- SHODAN-HO is awarded to all students under 16 yrs.
- Upon turning 16 years of age and achieving a Minimum of (100 training sessions) from time of Shodan-Ho, a student may test for FULL Sho-dan upon approval of the CKA Branch CHIEF instructor.
- Upon a failed Sho-dan test, the student must attend an additional (50 training sessions) and attain the approval of the CKA branch chief instructor before re-testing for the same rank.
NI-DAN REQUIREMENTS
- NI-DAN Minimum Age is 18 years old.
- 200 training sessions and a 2 year Minimum is required from date of Sho-dan certification.
- 50 TEACHING HOURS minimum are required at the CKA Branch and with the supervision and approval of the CKA Branch Chief Instructor.
- Upon a failed Ni-dan test, the student must attend an additional (50 training sessions) and receive Recommendation by the CKA Branch Chief instructor and a FINAL approval from CKA Headquarters President “SHIHAN” before re-testing for the same rank.
- SAN-DAN minimum age is 21 years old.
- 300 training sessions and a 3 year Minimum is required from date of NI-DAN certification
- 50 TEACHING HOURS minimum are required at the CKA Branch under the supervision and approval of the CKA Branch Chief Instructor.
- Upon a failed San-dan test, the student must attend an additional (50 training sessions) and receive Recommendation by the CKA Branch Chief instructor and a FINAL approval from CKA Headquarters President “SHIHAN” before re-testing for the same rank.
DAN RE-CERTIFICATION RULES
- Black belt rank certification must be maintained annually with no less than 30 training sessions per year at a certified CKA affiliated branch.
- If a practitioner has not attended a SINGLE training session to maintain their physical skills for 9 months “Continuously” or more with a CKA certified branch under the tutelage of a CKA certified instructor, their Rank status will be immediately revoked.
- To RE-Certify your Black belt Status “regardless of Dan level” a minimum of 50 training sessions is required at the ORIGINAL certifying CKA Branch dojo to regain rank recognition and only by the “recommendation” of the CKA Certified Branch Chief instructor. If the rank at question is “higher than” SHO-DAN, then FINAL approval for Re-Certification is also Required by CKA Headquarters Chief “SHIHAN”.
